Jesmond Schembri is a social worker by profession and holds a Master’s degree in Social Work. He has spent most of his professional practice in the addictions field, especially working with persons experiencing alcohol-related problems and their relatives.
Jesmond worked both in Agenzija Sedqa’s care and prevention services and held various posts within the agency. In 2009 he was appointed as Operations Director of Sedqa, the national agency against drug and alcohol abuse and compulsive gambling, a position he still holds.
Jesmond has a special interest in Social Policy, a subject which he has been teaching at the tertiary level for the past twenty years. Between 2008 and 2015 he was also the National Focal Point for Alcohol Policy within the World Health Organisation’s European Region.
